WiFi AR Visualizer Concept

UX/UI, AR, Animation
At Xfinity, we explored new ways to improve the in-home WiFi experience through emerging technology. I led the design of the WiFi Visualizer concept, an early-stage solution that used Augmented Reality to help address common customer pain points. This case study walks through the design process, shares highlights from a presentation I gave to the SVP of Xfinity, and outlines our vision for where this product could go next.

The Challenge

At Xfinity, we can use AR to measure the strength of our IOT device's WiFi connections. How can we take advantage of this technology to curate meaningful experiences for our customers in a way that provides real-world value?

Our Goals

Research and discovery on the value of AR in today's marketplace, investigate the value of AR for our customers, and work with our engineering partners to deliver this experience.

Understanding AR in todays world

I started this project by understanding how AR is used in today's market, how customers use AR in their daily lives, and the value it provides on the business end.

How can AR help

For our Xfinity customers in today's world, our customers run a Whole Home Test to troubleshoot and follow app tip cards to activate a device. Is there a way to take these experiences a step further to make them the best in-home experiences in the market?

Designing the experience

As we create the first AR experience at Xfinity, how can we create an AR experience for this concept that feels like an Xfinity product?
Are there any apps that we can draw inspiration from?

Building an AR Prototype

I utilized Figma, After Effects and Aero in combination to create a usable AR prototype for socialization of this concept to leadership
